The Indian Scout Bobber goes dark, modern, and aggressive

Indian Motorcycle launched the Scout Bobber for the Philippine market on the evening of February 22, 2018, under the lights of the indoor pool club, Cove Manila, in Entertainment City. The Bobber is a factory custom version of the Scout, made to appeal to younger audiences by offering a more aggressive stance and a stripped down design.

The Scout Bobber gives riders the choice to go for a dark, sexier, modernized look — veering away from the chrome-covered classic heritage of the Indian Scout. After Polaris dropped Victory to focus on Indian, the company can now build any kind of American motorcycle under one brand name. Although the Bobber does keep its inherent retro appeal, the Scout Bobber can be seen as the first major effort of Indian to expand its attractiveness to non-traditional buyers who aren't the vintage-crazy sort.

The Indian Scout Bobber is based on the Scout’s platform and a liquid-cooled 1133 cc V-twin that makes 101.5 PS at 8,000 rpm and 97 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm, while mated to a 6-speed transmission with a wet multiplate clutch. As a factory custom, modifications include reigned-in footpegs, flatter tracker-style handlebars, and less rear suspension travel. Exterior components are finished in satin black, fenders are chopped, and the updated Indian badge features a contemporary font. The changes slim the Scout down into a low-slug, muscular machine.

A single 298 mm front disc with a 2-piston caliper stops the front, while a single 298 mm disc with a 1-piston caliper slows the rear. The Bobber gets 130/90-16 and 150/80-16 sized tires respectively. Seat height measures at a very low 649 mm (25.6 in), and the cruiser weighs 251 kg with a full 12.5 L tank.
