Honda spruces up the CRF1100L Africa Twin for the 2021 model year with new colors. Its premium color, Pearl Glare White Tricolor, formerly exclusive to the Adventure Sports trim, is now offered across the range, even on the base-trim Africa Twin. In addition to the premium white color, Honda also adds Grand Prix Red and Matt Ballistic Black Metallic.
Eagle-eyed readers will notice a subtle change in the livery. The way the stripes wrap around the bodywork has been slightly altered. The “Africa Twin” lettering has also been changed from gold to black. Of course, it doesn’t get the gold spoke wheels or forks of the Adventure Sports variant either. Nonetheless, the additional color choice options are welcome.
The Africa Twin is already Euro-5 compliant as the emissions updates was applied with the change in engine displacement. Its 1,084cc, parallel-twin cylinder, liquid-cooled engine produces 102-bhp of power at 7,500 rpm and 105-Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. Its available with a choice of a six-speed manual and a six-speed DCT.
Besides the powerful engine, it comes with electronic rider aids like cornering ABS, rear-lift control, cruise control, wheelie control, DCT cornering detection and cornering lights. All this can be seen and controlled on the 6.5-inch TFT touchscreen display that is compatible with Apple CarPlay.
The Adventure Sports variant adds a larger fuel tank, taller windscreen and a wider sump guard than the standard model. The Adventure Sports also gets tubeless tires compatible with spoke wheels.
