Honda's entry-level AT Scooter to be manufactured in PH starting March 2020

Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI), the top motorcycle manufacturer in the country, has announced that the new BeAT will be manufactured in the Philippines this coming March. The localization of the new BeAT model is part of HPI’s commitment to the Filipino market.

“We are excited to announce that HPI will manufacture the new BeAT to immediately address the fast-paced demand of the Filipino customers. Young riders are becoming more demanding in terms of their riding needs – from style to technology, which is why we want to prioritize this model, as one of the high-selling AT models that suits the Philippine road traffic condition,” said Susumu Mitsuishi, HPI President.

The BeAT will continue to be offered in three variants: Fashion Sport, Street, and Premium (with Idling Stop System and Combi Brake System).

Honda is confident in the continuous high demand for the BeAT. When asked for an outlook on annual production volume of the new BeAT, Mitsuishi replied, ”We are seeing a fiscal year production volume of around 130,000 units.”

The local manufacture of the BeAT is in line with Honda Philippines, Inc.’s mission of giving every Filipino the joy and freedom of mobility for their One Dream.

The Honda BeAT is a slim and compact automatic scooter. All BeATs are powered by Honda’s enhanced Smart Power 110 cc engine. The engine is a single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke, fuel-injected, SOHC unit with an ACG starter. It produces 8.81 PS at 7,500 rpm and 9.21 Nm at 6,000 rpm.

Every BeAT also comes with both electric and kickstart modes, an Eco-indicator on the instrument cluster, an 11-liter utility box, Semi-Digital Meter Panel with Eco-Indicator, and Automatic Headlight-On (AHO) function.

It rides on a telescopic fork in front and mono shock unit swing system in the rear. 14-inch alloy wheels on tubeless tires meet the road.

On the Premium model, it is fitted with Honda’s unique Idling Stop System (ISS), which turns off the engine when idling to conserve fuel. This function can be turned-off with a switch on the handlebar if desired. It also features the Combi-Brake System (CBS), which allows the rider to use both front and rear brakes with one hand by using the left brake lever.

The other models feature a handbrake lock on the left handlebar.

The BeAT boasts of an average fuel consumption figures of as high as 63 km/L (on the CBS-ISS variant).

The BeAT is offered in 9 specially-designed Filipino-inspired graphics. In the Premium (ISS/CBS) variant; these are: Matte Fiery Red, and Matte Axis Gray Metallic. In the Street (STD) variant, these are: Euro Gray Metallic, Matte Axis Gray Metallic, and Ross White. In the Fashion Sport (STD) variant, these are Sahara Blue Metallic, Black, Fighting Red, and Vibrant Orange. Prices start at PhP66,900 for the Fashion Sport (STD) and the Street (STD) and PhP70,400 for the Premium (ISS/CBS).
