Industry giant Honda and fast fashion powerhouse Forever 21 have collaborated on a new apparel collection. The clothing has an unmistakably old school feel and features retro designs celebrating Honda’s racing heritage.
Modern silhouettes are emblazoned with racing motifs, bold logos, throwback graphics, and Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) colors. The mutually beneficial partnership between Forever 21 and Honda provides an imaginatively hip way to celebrate motorsport fandom and fashion—hoping to spread the spirit of racing to a youthful market. Some of the items may even tickle the fancies of older enthusiasts who wax nostalgia about the ‘80s and ‘90s.
Most shoppers of Forever 21 are younger women, whom Honda is inviting into the fold with designs that are sexier and funner than average merchandise. The collection also includes several items for men, as well as plus-sized figures.
American Honda has launched a social media contest that allows buyers to post photos wearing the garments to Instagram, with the hashtag #F21xHonda. The winner receives a brand new CRF240L.
"Honda's motorcycle racing success in the '80’s and '90’s was legendary, with our riders earning many championships in domestic and international series. While we're focused on winning with our current teams, it's fun to see our racing heritage honored by Forever 21 with a completely new audience,” said Mike Snyder, Senior Manager of Honda Powersports Marketing.
