Engine to be sourced from Indian manufacturer

Milwauke-based motorcycle maker, Harley-Davidson, plans to launch a new model with an engine between 250-500cc in India by 2020. While few details have been reviewed, many experts believe the engine will be a product of a partnership with an Asian bikemaker, most likely from India.

The bike is expected to be a high-volume model and could be offered in several other Asian markets that favor small displacement motorcycles. In addition, the high volume target suggests it will also be priced affordably.

It’s very likely that the motorcycle will be based on the Street platform and feature a V-twin as has been Harley-Davidson tradition. The American brand is already producing Street 750s and 500s from India.
