Being licensed motorcycle riders, many of us have at least once experienced being ticketed for a traffic violation. Whether going the wrong way on a one-way street or something more serious like riding on bicycle lane, more often than not, these traffic violations lead to gettingyour driver’s license confiscated and issued a Temporary Operator’s Permit (TOP) from the Land Transportation Office (LTO). These TOPs are usually only valid for a short period like a 7 days.
For those who were ticketed recently, if there’s any consolation, the LTO has given an extension to the validity of these TOPs due to the ongoing travel restrictions placed on the entire Metro Manila. It wouldn't be possible to claim your license anyway, as all LTO offices within NCR are closed until the ECQ is lifted.
1-week to settle
If you were apprehended due to a traffic violation between July 23-31, 2021, the LTO has extended the TOP’s validity until August 22, 2021. The period to settle the fine will be from August 23 up to August 27, 2021 only.
If you were apprehended due to a traffic violation between August 1-7, 2021, the LTO has extended the TOP’s validity until August 27, 2021. The period to settle the fine will be from August 30 up to September 6, 2021 only.
If you were apprehended due to a traffic violation between August 8-14, 2021, the LTO has extended the TOP’s validity until September 3, 2021. The period to settle the fine will be from September 6 up to September 10, 2021 only.
Finally, if you are apprehended due to a traffic violation between August 15-21, 2021, the LTO will extended the TOP’s validity until September 10, 2021. The period to settle the fine will be from September 13 up to September 17, 2021 only.
Please take note though that these are only applicable to LTO-issued TOPs within NCR from the agency’s traffic enforcers and their deputized law enforcement units. Other localities which issue Ordinance Violation Receipt (OVR), including the MMDA, are not covered by this announcement.
