Banayad Funduro is your last hurrah on two wheels for the summer

As you may have noticed, off-road and adventure motorcycles have been growing in popularity, with many road-going motorcycle riders now switching to dual sport motorcycles like the Honda CRF 150, 250 Rally, Yamaha Serow 250 or even big adventure bikes like the KTM 1090 Adventure and the BMW R1200 GS. To encourage more riders, especially those who wanted to experience the fun and joy of riding on dirt just like us, we've created the Banayad Funduro and Flat Track, happening on Saturday, May 25, at the Vermosa Off-road Tracks, along Daang Hari in Imus, Cavite.

The word “banayad” means easy, or smooth sailing, became a household name among enduro riders especially in the Magallanes Cavite trail sites when gauging the next trail site inside the jungle. As it turns out, it is the complete opposite, as most if not all the trail routes inside the jungle are hard and technical. It was first coined by our good friend Jake Yu and his gang that call themselves “Team Tanga” (where the name came from is also a long story), every time they would try a new route inside the jungle, they would say “banayad lang yan” (that's an easy trail). Lo and behold, they would exit the jungle the next day because of the hardships and peril of that route. For me, I used the word "banayad" to encourage newbie dirt riders to try out the backroads of Magallanes, Cavite and conquer their fears to achieve what was thought to be impossible.

The Banayad Funduro and Flat Track Races, on the other hand, is relatively easy and is inspired from the laid back, family-oriented barbeque races abroad. “Funduro” is a portmanteau of the word fun and enduro, as the 2-kilometer trail inside Vermosa Off-road Tracks is fun to ride and is newbie friendly. The Flat Track races also welcome everyone from children's pocket bikes to scooters and to daddy's big adventure bikes. So if you're looking for a different way to spend your Saturday with the family, come and join us on May 25th at the Vermosa Off-road Tracks for the Banayad Funduro and Flat Track. Races start at 7 am. The Banayad Funduro and Flat Track is the second installment of the Banayad Off-road Series and is presented by the Vermosa Off-road Tracks in cooperation with Bikerbox, Inc. and is supported by Royal Enfiled Pilipinas, Motul Motorcycle Oils, Mitas Tyres, Summit Natural Mineral Water, Globe Telecom, Lechon City, Acerbis, YRS Motorcycle Modifications, Cobra Energy Drink, Tanduay Rum, Maxicare, El Pago Sausages, EnduroPH, Team Thomas and the BMW Owners Society of Saferiders (BOSS).
