New Aprilia RS 457 showcased at EICMA

For Filipino motorcycle riders who are “graduating” from sub-400cc bikes, the next question is always the same: “What bike would be my next bike that is expressways-legal?”

Aprilia might have the answer for you: the new RS 457 sportbike.

“Baby RS”

Like the RS 660, the new RS 457 is inspired by Aprilia’s flagship model RSV4 superbike. According to Aprilia, the new RS 457 completes the missing link between the RS 125 (not available in the Philippines) and the RS 660.

The new Aprilia RS 457 is powered by a liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine, capable of 45 Ps and only tips the scales at 175 kg (wet) weight. Thanks to these figures the new RS 457 boasts the best power-to-weight ratio within its segment.

Aprilia claims that they are the only manufacturer in the segment to opt for aluminum chassis, using the engine crankcase as a load-bearing element.

The 41mm diameter upside-down fork and monoshock are both adjustable in preload while the braking system features a 320mm ByBre front disc with a radially-mounted 4-piston caliper.

Other features include full-LED lighting, a 5-inch TFT screen, backlit handlebar controls, 3-level traction control, riding modes, ride-by-wire and ABS as standard. A quick shifter can be added as optional equipment.

According to our friends from Aprilia, they are looking forward to making the new RS 457 available in showrooms on or before Q2 of 2024, and target an SRP that won’t break the bank at less than PHP 400,000.
