Ducati is back to work and its first order of business is building the Suerleggera V4. The first unit of a limited run of 500 has just rolled off the production line. Currently, it is the only motorcycle in the world approved for road use with a frame, swingarm, and rims made of carbon fiber.
As a testament to its exclusivity, each one will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The number of the unit out of 500 will also be shown in the chassis number, steering head, and ignition key.
Each motorcycle is equipped with a Racing kit: complete Akrapovič exhaust for track use in titanium; open clutch cover in carbon fiber; swingarm cover in carbon fiber with a titanium slider; headlamp and light replacement kit; license plate holder removal kit; side stand removal kit; mirror replacement billet aluminum caps; Ducati Data Analyzer + GPS (DDA + GPS); racing fuel cap, brake lever protection, motorcycle cover; front and rear stand, and a battery charger. The bike is delivered inside a wooden crate with specially-made for its transport.
Finally, all customers receive a Superleggera V4 1:10 scale sculpture that is also personalized with the matching motorbike number.
The first of the lucky owners has been invited to Borgo Panigale for a delivery ceremony and, in the next few days, he will personally meet Claudio Domenicali, Ducati CEO, to receive his Superleggera V4 001/500.
The Superleggera (which means Superlight) V4 lives up to its name by being 16 kg lighter than the standard 2020 Panigale V4. This is thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber in the fairing, frame, subframe, swingarm, and wheels.
Race bike mode
Though road legal, the Superleggera V4 can instantly be converted into a track monster. Its road legal power output of 224 hp increases to 234 hp when fitted with the Racing Kit. Its aerodynamic biplane appendages, inspired by Ducati’s 2016 MotoGP bike, guarantee a vertical load of 50 kg of downforce at 270 km/h, 20 kg more than that produced by the wings of the Panigale V4 MY20 and V4R.
By loading the engine calibration for the racing exhaust, it enables the display of the "RaceGP" dashboard, intended for circuit use only. Three reprogrammed Riding Modes (Race A, Race B and Sport), with space for five Riding Modes to be added, customizable with your unique settings. The rider can also monitor lap times through the Lap Timer, which allows you to store the coordinates of the finish line and the split times of five favorite circuits. These can be loaded once on track without having to repeat the data logging procedure.
Only these improvements only serve to show just how extreme the Superleggera V4 is, but at the same time guaranteeing the reliability and ease of use of a motorcycle for road use.
