Last year, the launching of DesertX was the climax of Ducati’s 2021 campaign that concluded in December. Now, after seven months of waiting, the Ducati DesertX will finally land on our shores.
One of Ducati Philippines’ top bosses, Paulo Ortanez, has confirmed with MotoPinas.com that the highly-anticipated DesertX will arrive next month, while the actual units for selling will follow in November.
“Demo units in August; actual units in November,” told Ortanez to MotoPinas.com. Ortanez is the current General Manager of Ducati PH.
DesertX: Ducati’s most off-road capable ADV bike
The new Ducati DesertX is perhaps Bologna’s most off-road-oriented large-capacity bike to date. Powered by a 937cc Testastretta L-twin engine, this beast churns out 112 Ps (110 Hp) of power and 92 Nm of torque. This power can then be controlled through DesertX’s 6 customizable riding modes, including Enduro and Rally modes.
Fitted with 21-inch front and 18-inch rear Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires, the new DesertX has been designed with real off-road riding in mind. This means that, in theory, the DesertX should be able to go where most large-capacity adventure bikes can’t if a skilled rider is on the saddle.
Additionally, the DesertX was designed to take its rider very far from civilization, thanks to its 21-liter fuel tank, complemented by an 8-liter (accessory) rear camel tank. Compared to the current top adventure bikes in the market, the DesertX boasts a dry weight of only 202 kg – which is about 20 kg lighter than BMW’s R 1250 GS, Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin, and Harley-Davidson Pan America Special.
The Philippine SRP of the DesertX is yet to be announced by Ducati Philippines.
