Theoretical and Practical Driving Courses temporarily suspended

By now you've heard or read about the recent IATF Resolution No. 104, which effectively imposes new restriction protocols across NCR, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Bulacan.

Additionally, since mass gatherings are again outlawed, that means the Land Transportation Office’s (LTO) and it's accredited institutions that conduct both the Theoretical and Practical Driving Courses (TDC and PDC) will have to temporarily suspend such activities at least until after April 4, 2020, in those areas mentioned above.

“Yes. The following areas declared under GCQ are ordered to suspend the conduct of TDC and PDC, to which, NCR, Pateros, Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna, and Rizal,” says LTO assistant secretary, Edgar Galvante, through a text message to MotoPinas.com.

Driving courses suspended with new IATF resolution image

About 3 years ago, President Rodrigo Duterte, announced that it was very easy for an individual to acquire a driver’s license here in the country, hence, most of the drivers behind the wheel or behind a motorcycle’s handlebar are not at all familiar with the traffic laws.

It took nearly 2 years before the LTO required would-be-drivers and those who are adding additional driver’s license restrictions to take the necessary training/ seminar before being given the privilege to drive a motor vehicle.

During the 3rd quarter of last year, applicants of student permits, new driver’s licenses, and those who wish to change or add a restriction code to their existing license were required to undergo driving courses.

According to LTO, this was also in accordance with Republic Act 10930 or the “Act Rationalizing and strengthening the policy regarding driver's license by extending the validity period of driver's licenses, and penalizing acts in violation of its issuance and application, amending for those purposes Section 23 of Republic Act 4136, as amended by Batas Pambansa Blg. 398 and Executive Order No. 1011, otherwise known as the Land Transportation and Traffic Code.

For those who are planning on taking the required driving courses, please contact the nearest LTO satellite office in your area for scheduling announcements.
