Yamaha's Sniper MX 150 has been around for a while now, serving as a strong contender in the Sport Underbone segment. Are we about to get an upgrade soon?
In Indonesia at least, there already is a new one. Yamaha Indonesia revealed its latest version of the MX-King. It may be called the MX-King, but it's positioning, engine size, and styling look very similar to the Sniper.
Perhaps the biggest clues are the smaller LED headlights now fitted as standard. It still retains the front position lights and body-mounted turn signals, like ours, that are already using LED bulbs.
Ahead of the rider is a new blue-backlit all-digital instrument panel. It integrates the tachometer, speedometer, gear position indicator, and fuel level. It also includes average fuel consumption, odometer and tripmeter display.
Yamaha Indonesia offers this model in a special ASEAN matte blue (above), matte red, metallic blue, and gloss blue.
All told, the upgrades are fairly minor with the headlight and instrument cluser being the main differences. Our local Sniper 150 already has the modern body work, larger wheels and tires, minus the LED headlight and digital instrument panel.
With the model already sporting upgrades in Indonesia, we can only hope Yamaha Philippines will be introducing them soon.
