CFMoto KTM-based adventure bike nearing production

It's no secret that KTM and China’s CFMoto already have a long-standing collaboration with regards to developing and producing small to middleweight motorcycles. Now, after 6 years, CFMoto may finally unveil their own version of an adventure bike. Industry experts suggest it will be based on KTM’s 790 Adventure bike platform.

This seems to be corroborated by spy shots spreading in the internet suggesting of an upcoming CFMoto adventure bike. Dubbed the MT800, the bike is already being tested before it finally heads to the assembly line for mass production.

For now, much of the details of the MT800 are still shrouded in secrecy.

What we do know is that the engine could be the  same one powering the KTM 790 Adventure and Adventure R: a 799cc. Naturally, it's tweaked by CFMoto to their taste to give the bike a different feel from the KTM.

Also, the spy shots suggest that the MT800 may come in two variants: one for street touring and one for adventure, as evidenced by the two wheel options (road and dual-sport).

As for looks, based from the photos, the overall design suggests styling more like Ducati's Multistrada with a hint of Loncin Voge’s 650DS on front.

Availability

There is no official word yet from CFMoto, but according to sources, the MT800 was originally slated to begin production last September. The pandemic may have had a hand in its postponement to next year. Price has to be determined.
