CAVITEX southbound lanes to be closed for girder installation at off-peak hours

The Manila-Cavite expressway (CAVITEX) will begin its second phase of road enhancement of creating additional bridge lanes to widen the Parañaque, Wawa, and Las Piñas bridges from three lanes to four lanes.

To accomplish this, girders will be lifted and installed in the Northbound and Southbound portions of the bridges. During girder launching, a 30-minute stop-and-go scheme will be implemented during off-peak hours. The girder launching, which will be done on the Southbound portion of Las Pinas Bridge, is scheduled to happen on February 24, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and February 25, 12:01 AM to 4:00 AM. A counterflow scheme for Class 1 vehicles will also be implemented to aid the possible congestion that might be experienced during the said schedule. Motorists are advised to maintain a 60 km/h maximum speed limit on the counterflow lane

To help motorists spot it more easily, it is the first bridge after the Southbound Parañaque Toll Plaza.

This round of improvement follows the completion of the first phase of its road enhancements which opened to motorists in December of 2018. These included the Southbound flyover and Left Turning Facility towards Pacific Drive leading to D. Macapagal Avenue. With its opening, the motorists immediately felt the ease in travelling to and from Paranaque, Las Pinas and Cavite. Investment for the full Cavitex enhancement is PhP 1.1B.

To maximize the benefits of the road enhancements, CAVITEX motorists are encouraged to switch to the electronic toll collection system (ETC) such as the Easytrip RFID to ensure a faster pass through at the toll plazas.

Easytrip has also enabled the interoperability of the Autosweep RFID in CAVITEX, CALAX, NLEX and SCTEX. The Autosweep account holder just need to enroll their account in any Easytrip customer service station found along any of the MPTC toll roads.

The Cavitex is part of a road network being expanded by the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, it will connect to the 7.7KM C5-Southlink which will traverse Taguig, Las Piñas, Parañaque & the 45KM Cavite-Laguna Expressway which connects at Kawit and will traverse Imus, Governor’s Drive, Aguinaldo Highway, Silang, Sta Rosa, Laguna boulevard until Mamplasan, Biñan, Laguna.
