Conquering the island of Mindoro in 24 hours

Endurance challenges have now easily become the proving grounds for new vehicles that are coming out in the market, moreso for motorcycles. These challenges not only test the endurance of a rider but also the motorcycle itself in real-world weather, road and traffic conditions.

Bristol Motorcycles Conquers the 2nd Mangyan 1000-kilometer Motorcycle Challenge

Between November 9 and 10, two models of Bristol Motorcycles – Café 400i and the Classic 400i, were put to the test at the grueling 2nd Mangyan 1000-kilometer Motorcycle Challenge and were able to finish the event at 9 hours 48 minutes and 13 hours and 56 minutes respectively. The Café 400i was ridden by multiple endurance challenge finisher Oliver Navarro and the Classic 400i was ridden by this author, who was riding with the RE Adventure Team led by our good friend, Cheggy Medina.

Despite being one of the last groups to take off, we were able to manage our pacing and overtook more than 600 participants out of the 700+ who joined the event and were able to arrive at the finish line in Calapan Mindoro just minutes before noon, along with the first 70 or 80 finishers. Oliver on the other hand arrived earlier just after breakfast in Calapan, finishing 9th overall against bigger and faster adventure bikes.

“Bristol Motorcycles just proved that they are perfect touring companions here in the Philippines; rain or shine, paved or unpaved with the power of an expressways-legal 400cc engine” said Andrew Sy, Operations Manager for Bristol Motorcycles.
