BMW adds new colors and optional equipment to R 1250 R and RS

BMW is giving the rest of its motorcycle offerings some love with timely updates for 2021. Among the first to receive some changes is the R 1250 R and RS. These two models use the same engine as the R 1250 GS, though in a more road-biased package.

For those unfamiliar, the R 1250 R is the large naked roadster offering. The R 1250 RS is the semi naked roadster featuring a front cowl similar to the F 900 XR.

Among the updates is Euro-5 emissions compliance, allowing it to continue to be offered for a number years, especially in India where motorcycle restrictions are most stringent. BMW has also removed the ability to disengage ABS on this model. Though since it was never meant to go off-road, it shouldn’t be much of an issue. A new color, Austin Yellow has also been added. The R 1250 R on the other hand gains these too in addition to optional Driving Modes Pro modes, and an optional M Lightweight battery.

BMW has also added a few items to the optional equipment and customization list. Fans of Option 719 customization will find a whole array of milled parts, from engine housing covers, cylinder head covers, hand levers, footrests and foot levers , as well as expansion tanks in a variety of new finishes.

The R 1250 RS retains its two variants: Style Sport and HP. The R 1250 R Style HP variant will simply be called Style Sport. Another variant it is offered in is Style Exclusive.
