The newly-built BGC-Ortigas Link Bridge opens at midnight tonight. Also known as the Kalayaan Bridge, this new bridge will effectively reduce travel time from Bonifacio Global City in Taguig to Ortigas Center in Pasig from the usual 45 minutes to 1 hour to just 12 minutes. It will be opened to the public tonight at 12 midnight, October 1, 2021.

The BGC-Ortigas Link Bridge, which was partially-opened to the public on June 12 (Phase 1), is a 1.48-kilometer flagship infrastructure project implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as part of the Duterte Administration’s Build, Build, Build Program. President, Rodrigo Duterte, formally inaugurated the BGC-Ortigas Link Bridge earlier today.

The new bridge is estimated to take at least 25% of the vehicle volume from both EDSA and C5, amounting to roughly 72,000 vehicles daily.

The bridge, which costs PhP1.793-billion, is funded by the government’s General Appropriations Fund. Since this is a PH government-funded project and not a Public-Private Partnership like the Skyway Stage 3 or the C5-Link bridge, the use of the new BGC-Ortigas Link bridge is absolutely free and there are no restrictions to sub-400cc motorcycles.
