Newly-launched Aprilia SXR 160 compliant with India BS-6 emissions standards

The Piaggio Group took the wraps off its latest scooter, the Aprilia SXR 160 at the Auto Expo 2020 in New Delhi, India. The Piaggio Group specially selected this event as it is one of the top international motor shows.

This new model is specially-designed for the Indian market. The SXR 160 will be offered above Aprilia's current top-end scooter, the SR150 and hopes to broaden the product range also occupied by Aprilia's sister brand, Vespa.

The SXR160 features an ergonomic riding position, oversize saddle, and flat footboard. It's fitted with LED lights, and a multi-function digital display.

It comes with a choice of 160cc and 125cc engines with 3V Tech FI Engine technology. These engine's are compliant with India's Bharat Stage VI (BS-6) emissions standards.

It rolls on 5-spoke, 12-inch alloy wheel rims and is goverened by ABS.

The SXR 160 will be manufactured at the Baramati factory in India. It will be on sale in India in the third quarter of 2020.

Before even being sold, the scooter already attracted enthusiastic response from the international media and visitors at the Auto Expo. It was named “Best Auto Expo 2020 two-wheeler”, for its innovative sporty personality, premium technology and comfort.

“Significant changes have taken place in Indian consumers’ preferences and requirements in the last few years,” said Piaggio India CEO, Diego Graffi. “At Piaggio we have performed extensive analysis and design work to understand and anticipate developments, and we proudly present the new Aprilia SXR 160, a scooter destined to set a new benchmark in its segment.”

Unfortunately, this model will not be made available locally.
