The Aprilia RSV4, first produced in 2008, has been the centerpiece of an extremely successful racing initiative. Debuting at the Superbike World Championship (World SBK) a year later in 2009 and earning 9 podiums in the first year alone, the RSV4 has moved on to collecting 7 world titles throughout its tenure in the series. To present, the remarkable V4 motorcycle has amassed 54 world titles in events around the globe.
Aprilia Racing is the Piaggio Group’s most formidable, innovative, and advanced platform in regards to the research and development of high performance technology. In 2015, they introduced the Factory Works program in order to make the RSV4’s constant innovations more available and accessible to motorsport participants and track day enthusiasts. The goal is to create Superstock and Superbike compliant machines with a variety of engine, chassis, and electronic modification — directly sold and supported by Aprilia Racing.
For 2017, the program reaches its first major milestone providing 4 levels of tuning based on the RSV4 for competition use in national or international arenas. All versions revolve, one way or another, on the “MY 17 April RSV4 RR Race Pack.”
RSV4 FW-SSTK1: For Superstock, this RSV4 comes with an ultralight lithium battery, engine optimization, and lightened brakes with no ABS. The engine is also lightened with simplified cooling lines. Thermostat and secondary air circuit are eliminated. The ECU was reprogrammed with mapping of engine control and vehicle dynamics by Aprilia Racing. Instrumentation combined with the V4-MP system is conducive to tracking lap times with a telemetry system that can adjust electronic settings corner by corner. An Akrapovic exhaust system and fairing kits are also included.
RSV4 R FW-SSTK2: For Superstock as well, this version has a special electrical system with a lightened wiring harness and lithium battery. Aprilia Racing’s APX2 ECU features ignition and engine control that are fully programmable — including a palmtop terminal. The EUC affords data acquisition; the system can take either original or optional sensors meeting Superstock 1000 FIM Cup regulations. This RSV4 also gets Aprilia Racing instrumentation, modifications, an Akrapovic exhaust system, and fairings. Max power is rated at 207 PS.
RSV4 R FW-SBK: For Superbike classes, this also comes with a dedicated electrical system, lightweight wiring, a lithium battery, and the programmable APX2 ECU fitted with GPS. Its electronic gearbox includes assisted downshifting and this bike receives special Aprilia Racing instrumentation (with racing button panel, while the engine gets SBK modifications that push its power to a max of 218 PS.
RSV4 R FW-GP: This bike is based on the FW-SBK, but at its heart is the 65° V4 directly derived from the technologically advanced RS-GP 15 beast (Aprilia’s entry into MotoGP 2015) boasting an 81 mm x 48.5 mm bore and pneumatic valve timing. Customers will receive exclusive invitations to the Aprilia Racing HQ in Noale, Italy for custom-tailored configuration by Aprilia Racing engineers. Branded full track leathers and a paddock pass for a MotoGP weekend are also offered. Those who purchase the unique motorcycle are invited to a test session complete with Aprilia's engineers present to adjust settings and impart technical advice. An engineer is also available whenever one plans to take the FW-GP on the track. We’d be remiss not to mention that the FW-GP makes an astounding max power of 253 PS.
