This year's national motorcycle convention is cancelled

The annual convention of the National Federation of Motorcycle Clubs of the Philippines (NFMCP) has canceled this year's event. On Any Sunday Riders, the Davao-based club, this year's event host, have announced that this year's festivities will be canceled and rescheduled for 2021. The NFMCP Convention was originally scheduled to happen this weekend, April 17-19.

“We, from the On Any Sunday Riders Club, have decided to prioritize the health [of the general public] and to keep our riders safe from the Coronavirus, so it is very difficult for us to make this announcement that the 2020 NFMCP Annual Convention is totally canceled,” said the group in a statement.

This year's Motorcycle Convention in Davao was said to be the biggest of all the national conventions thus far, especially since it was scheduled to take place at President Rodrigo Duterte's hometown, Davao City. The host, On Any Sunday Riders Club, which is also President Duterte's motorcycle club, has been preparing for the upcoming event for almost a year now. All systems were a go until government protocols, including the lockdown of Davao City a few weeks ago, has discouraged large public gatherings, which ultimately led to this year's cancelation of the event.

“BUT, let us all prepare for next year because the On Any Sunday Riders will still host the 2021 NFMCP Annual Convention here in Davao!”
