Being Honda’s largest motorcycle market comes with a few, err, privileges as Indonesia gets first dibs on a new model that could also be a perfect model here in the Philippines: the CB150X.
Overview
The new CB150X shares the same engine with the CB150R and CBR150R. It’s the same potent, liquid-cooled DOHC 149cc powerplant with a six-speed gearbox. However, unlike the sporty CBR150R and the naked CB150R, the CB150X takes inspiration from its bigger 500cc sibling, the CB500X.
From the tall suspension to the muscular fuel tank and headlight, all were taken from the bigger CB500X.
Unfortunately, this smaller CB150X only gets 17-inch wheels for both the front and rear – which tells us that Honda didn’t have the word “adventure” in their minds when they were designing this bike. More likely, this small-capacity motorcycle will be a city tourer that has better stability and longer fuel range than most 150cc motorcycles.
Features
Honda positions the new CB150X at the midrange small capacity segment and has features that it shares with existing models in Honda’s lineup.
For example, the front suspension is shared with the CRF150L, while the brakes for both the front and rear are shared with the CBR150R, as well as the digital panel and exhaust. The new CB150X has no ABS. It also receives cast wheels shared with the CBR150R.
The lights are all LED.
PH pricing and availability
Currently, there is no word from Honda Philippines if they will import the CB150X into the country. For the SRP, the new CB150X retails for IDR 32,000,000 or roughly PHP 113,500.
