Acerbis used a modified Honda Monkey to set long distance world record

It is official: Acerbis Motorsport now holds the Guinness World Record for the greatest distance traveled onboard a motorcycle in just one single full tank. The total distance covered: 4,183 kilometers. That’s equivalent to traveling roundtrip from Manila City Hall to Davao City Hall, and then back again to Davao.

To achieve this feat, the engineers at Acerbis headquarters in Italy designed and built a fuel tank made of a special plastic material that can hold 108 liters of gasoline. They then fitted it on a 125cc Honda Monkey which had a stock fuel tank of just under 6 liters. The Monkey, as claimed by Honda, can travel almost 67 kilometers on just 1 liter of gasoline.

The journey started in Albino, Italy, and concluded in Nordkapp – which is commonly referred to as the northernmost part of Europe. The journey passed through Brenner, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and finally Norway.

Three riders took on the saddle to complete this journey: enduro rider Andrea Rastrelli, journalist Alicia Sornosa – who is by the way the first European female rider in the 21st century to complete a solo around-the-world tour on a motorcycle; and journalist Maurizio Vettor.
