DILG Secretary Año recommends adding a sidecar for motorcycle passengers

Instead of backriding, connect a sidecar. This was the advice of of Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary, Eduardo Año.

For those that need to bring their relatives or loved ones to work, the secretary recommends attaching a sidecar to their motorcycle or bicycle as this allows one passenger to ride.

"Lagyan na lang ng sidecar ang motor puwede na niya isama ang kaniyang misis, ganun nalang po solution habang andiyan pa ang virus, (Attach a sidecar to the motorcycle to bring along the wife. That’s the only solution while the virus is around.)," Año told ABS-CBN News. The secretary explained that a route can be organized to allow tricycles to pass certain areas.

He reiterated that having a pillion (backride) cannot be allowed because it goes against social distancing rules. He reassured the public that the government is organizing transportation to work better under the new normal. The public cannot go back to some of the old ways of getting around because it risks the spread of the coronavirus.
