Elevetad highway stretches to Plaza Dilao, Manila

A portion of Skyway Stage 3 will be opened to the public in 2 weeks. This was announced by DPWH Sec. Mark Villar as he inspected the progress of the elevated highway today.

A new 4-km portion will extend the Skyway from the current Buendia exit to Pres. Quirino Avenue in Malate, Manila and terminate for now at Plaza Dilao in Paco, Manila.

“Construction of Skyway Stage 3 is [at] full blast,” said Villar. “We are working 24/7 to deliver the infrastructure this July.”

Villar noted that Section 1 from Makati to Manila is now 83 percent complete. Section 3, from Manila to Quezon City is 81 percent complete. 95% of the Skyway Stage 3's total length of 18.86 kilometers is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2020. By then, commuters can expect to travel from Balintawak in Quezon City to Buendia in Makati City in just 15 to 20 minutes.

The entire Skyway Stage 3 project is envisioned to connect the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) via an elevated road, eliminating the need to pass through EDSA or other major thoroughfares in Metro Manila.

Being a toll road, the new extension to Plaza Dilao will be governed by the same rules as the rest of the Skyway. As such, only motorcycles 400cc and above will be allowed access.

The secretary said the exact toll amount for the new section is still being finalized. For the mean time, the toll for the new section will be free.
