A lengthy 33-km portion of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), from Balagtas, Bulacan to San Fernando, Pampanga, is now more brightly lit, thanks to the installation of LED lighting. North Luzon Expressway Corporation (NLEX Corp.) has recently upgraded the lighting of the stretch.

If you’re a frequent user of NLEX, you’ll immediately notice that the road is better lit now. That’s because NLEX upgraded the existing lights to LEDs (Light Emitting Diode) that not only consume less energy but are also 25% more luminous than the previous lighting system they’ve used.

All in all, over 1,300 roadway lights were upgraded for the 33-kilometer stretch of NLEX from Balagtas, Bulacan to San Fernando, Pampanga, both northbound and southbound.

NLEX says that the upgrade is part of their efforts to improve motorist safety along the tollway and enhance customer experience.

Like the thousands of motorists who use the tollway, we also hope that NLEX Corporation will also upgrade their existing RFID scanners to scan more quickly, like in the video below from our friends in Indonesia.

In the video, our Indonesian friends were testing the effectiveness of their RFID scanners with the help of a speeding vehicle. In just a split second, the toll gate opens just as the speeding vehicle passes by, without requiring it to slow down.
