Adventure bike riders and fans here in the country would be happy to hear that the much anticipated KTM 790 Adventure and Adventure R could soon be ripping the roads-less-traveled in the Philippines. Our source from Adventure Cycle Philippines Inc., the Philippine distributor of the KTM brand, revealed the possible pricing and release date of the newest addition to the KTM family.
As of press time, the 790 Adventure which is the road-oriented version, will have an SRP of PhP 883,000. The 790 Adventure R, which is the more off-road-oriented version, will be priced at PhP 957,000. Both models are said to become available at KTM showrooms sometime in May this year. Both bikes will be powered by the same LC8 engine of the current 790 Duke, albeit tweaked for more low- to mid-range power for off-road use. It churns out 95 Ps / 83 Nm vs the 104 Ps/ 86.2 Nm (power/ torque) of the Scalpel. What's more interesting is that both the 790 Adventure and R variants will have a 20-liter fuel tank with a manufacturer-claimed 450-kilometer range. The tank is positioned at the lowest possible point of the bike, parallel to the crankshaft. This lowers its center of gravity and provides a narrower knee area for better handling off-road. The 790 Adventure R's dry weight: only 189 kilograms!
On February 12, MotoPinas.com published an article confirming that the Ayala-owned KTM Asia Motorcycle Manufacturing Inc. (KAMMI) will soon produce big bikes in their Laguna facility. Though the specific models were never mentioned, the 790 Adventure, Adventure R and Duke are the likely candidates for production.
