Push-button start now standard

Honda updates its two best-selling “urban errand-runners” for the 2019 model year, the Ruckus and Metropolitan. For now, the two models are available only in the US. The largest improvement is push-button starting. Besides that, most of what has endeared the bikes to fans has remained unchanged.

The Ruckus retains its trademark robust and barebones style. It is powered by a 49cc four-stroke, single cylinder liquid-cooled engine. Quite surprisingly, the Ruckus continues to be carbureted with an automatic choke. It sends power to the rear wheels with an automatic V-belt drive.

The body is held aloft by a twintube fork in front and a single shock swingarm in the rear. Drum brakes on both sides bring it to a stop. It features a 5 liter fuel tank and has a wet weight of just 88-kg. It is offered in a choice of black or white and red color schemes.

The Metropolitan, on the other hand, features modern, rounded lines and approachable design. It is offered in Coastal Blue or Pearl Soft Beige colors.

The Metropolitan is powered by a 49cc four-stroke, single cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This time, it features PGM-FI. Power is also delivered by an automatic V-belt drive.
