Bikerbox Manila shows off its latest Vespa at its Sunday morning motorcycle meet

Last Sunday, on July 15, 2018, Bikerbox, Inc. held another one of its awesome motorcycle meets, Bikes and Breakfast. It was a particularly eventful installment, turning the chill morning into a bustling warehouse party co-presented by Motul, Vespa, Set & Stage, and Royal Enfield.

The dawn’s heavy rain petered out into pleasant showers after sunrise and the roads were thankfully dry by mid-morning, to the delight of two-wheeling guests. The crowds trickled in, parking inside and around the premises with a handy helmet rack set up right by the registration table.

Coffee, soda, iced tea, and Crows craft beer were served and an assortment of hot, hearty Filipino breakfasts was devoured. The food was delicious, as it always is. Bikerbox’s in-house eatery has always been well loved by visitors.

Vespa Philippines chose Bikes and Breakfast as the venue for its launch of the 2018 Vespa Sprint 150 Carbon. The special Carbon edition of the Sprint 150 iGET ABS is one of Vespa’s black-clad bad boys. It gets a slickly sculpted, premium solo seat with double stitching—while its carbon-textured goodness is highlighted by Rosso Dragon stripes, complemented by chrome and silver accents. It also features a black dashboard cover around a digital display. These things differentiate the Carbon from a regular Sprint 150 iGET ABS.

Meanwhile, the Sprint 150 Carbon receives all the technology you’d expect from the Primavera’s sportier sibling: Vespa’s new air-cooled, 154.8 cc, single-cylinder iGET engine utilizing three catalyzed valves; single-sided front suspension and a preload-adjustable rear shock; a 220 mm front brake disc with ABS plus a 140 mm drum out back; and a set of alloy wheels. It’s got a fuel capacity of 7.5 L, with full-face helmet storage under the saddle. This naughty scooter has the power to make 12.9 PS at 7,750 rpm with 12.8 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The Vespa Sprint 150 iGET ABS Carbon is locally available at ₱215,000 as part of a limited release.

The busy affair attracted a wide variety of riders — from scooterists, off-roaders, and weekend warriors, to track-happy adrenaline junkies and the retro custom community. Bikes and Breakfast is organized once a month by Bikerbox, Inc. in different locations. Each meet has been a great, laid-back affair for people to socialize and indulge in geeky enthusiasm. Last Sunday, the live sounds of classic rock, blues, soul, and funk filled the shop’s walls thanks to performances by local legend Jun Lopito, and aficionado act Apartel.
